Steve Holy "Blue Moon"
In 2000, Steve Holy achieved a huge #1 Country hit with Good Morning
Beautiful." His second and most recent #1 came in 2006, with the title track
from Brand New Girlfriend. His 2000 Blue Moon release is truly
exceptional. His voice is truly amazing, and easily fits the updated Country
sound.
The title track is a wonderful opening track ballad, and has a very good
Country sound, easily becoming a popular airplay hit, and worth repeated
listens. "One Beat At A Time" is a nice upbeat song, with good vocals.
"Cold Kisses" is a good mellow song, with Holy's vocals becoming very
impressive while continuing to listen to this CD.
"Just A Kiss" has a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere, with its piano
licks, and could be compared to a 1960s Roy Orbison tune. "The Hunger"
is a typical updated Country song, where "Tear One" is a medium
honky-tonk'er.
The remaining songs have more of the Pop Country style, and can be
compared to such Country stars as Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and even Garth
Brooks.
Yet, there are two songs that are really great standouts, and even the
rest of the songs are very well-done. The title track and the #1 Country song
are the standouts, that doesn't mean the remaining songs are not as good.
Blue Moon is definitely a great Country album, with its up-to-date
Country and Pop sounds. Steve Holy may not be a household Country name, as say
the likes of Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, but he is definitely worth listening
to.
