    "Whipped Cream And Other Delights"

Recently, the original 1960s releases by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass received the nod of approval to appear on compact disc (40th anniversary). With the help of Grammy winner Alpert himself, it is an honor to listen to how his music ranks very highly. Not only listening to his most well-known hits from Greatest Hits and Best Of compilations, but other album tracks, and bonus tracks. Whipped Cream And Other Delights was a #1 pop album in 1965, as it remained on top of the album charts for 8 weeks. The most recognizable hits from this release were "A Taste Of Honey" and the theme for the popular TV game show "The Dating Game."

There are some old favorites, songs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s -- "Tangerine" (Jimmy Dorsey; 1940s), "Lemon Tree" (Peter, Paul & Mary; 1960s). Both songs have the romantic slow-styled sound, very entertaining romantic jazz. "Love Potion #9" (The Clovers [1950s], The Searchers [1960s]) is a very interesting version -- it's sexy and has the burlesque style, where most songs from this time in the 1960s (David Rose's "The Stripper").

"Green Peppers" has the classic Alpert style -- snappy and jazzy. "Bittersweet Samba" is another classic Alpert jazz'd style, as in the popular hits from this release. "El Garbanzo" is snappy, and has a mexican style in sound. "Lady Fingers" is another romantic, slow paced styled song. "Butterball" is another snappy styled jazz song, as in "Whipped Cream," and most especially on the track "Lollipops And Roses."

The 40th anniversary has 2 bonus tracks: "Rosemary" is another good, slow paced romantic song. "Blueberry Park" is medium paced, romantic as well.

A very healthy assortment of Alpert jazz, Whipped Cream And Other Delights makes the "Alpert Greatest Hits" fan want to listen to more of their music.
