    "Lust For Life"

His real name is James Newell Osterberg Jr., but we all know him better as Iggy Pop. Named after his band The Iguanas, Iggy Pop has been a major influence in Punk Rock, and is known as one of the godfathers of Punk. His song "Lust For Life" has been heard on television commercials, and if you're familiar with the band Jet, their song "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" has a strong resemblence to Pop's "Lust For Life." His album "Lust For Life" marks the debut of Iggy Pop on the WSVNRadio website.

"Sixteen" sounds like Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones in their later years. Some Weird Sin" definitely is weird, seeing this as more of a punk hard rock influence. "The Passenger" has a more pop style, and vocals compared to that of Lou Reed. "Tonight" expands the boundaries of punk, and a quite psychedelic approroach; even his vocals gets your attention at the beginning of the song, and thorughout the rest, his voice is moody, almost like the early years of David Bowie.

"Sucesse" has the Lou Reed flavor, another interesting rock item, where "Turn Blue" has the David Bowie feel. (David Bowie helped record this album, and co-wrote many of the songs contained on this album.) Another Bowie-influenced song, "Neighborhood Threat," has a more rock edge, and can easily be heard with Bowie surroundings. "Fall In Love With Me" has a pop rock edge, and again, Bowie-influenced.

David Bowie fans will enjoy this release. It's easy to hear Bowie's style and influence throughout the album. Other comparisons are to Lou Reed. All the songs are catchy, and some having rock and punk flavors. Iggy Pop has made a name for himself, for his on-stage antics, creating the "stage dive," jumping on top of the crowd (in hopes people would catch him to prevent any injuries), and was heavily influenced by Jim Morrison of The Doors, with his stage presence. (It was rumoured that Iggy Pop would replace Morrison as lead singer of The Doors, but that didn't happen.) It's interesting to listen to Iggy Pop's music; some say his music is a great influence for those who followed him; others would say his music is weird. All in all, he is unique, not only for his looks, but with the style of his music, influencing many rock and punk artists to come in the forthcoming decades of popular music.
