    "CooleyHighHarmony"

Boyz II Men debuts this week on WSVNRadio, with their first album, CooleyHighHarmony. Boyz II Men is best known for their romantic ballads and harmonies. When I first learned of the album's name, I thought it was named after a particular movie, Cooley High. Reading into this, it was not the case. This album blends with the commonday R&B and the ballads that made Boyz II Men famous. Most specifically, their #1 hit "End Of The Road" is on this album, both in English and Spanish versions ("Al Final Del Camino").

For the cool, smooth R&B sounds, songs such as "Please Don't Go" and "Your Love" gets the nods. As for the ballads, these are the ones that stand out: "Lonely Heart" (depsite the sad title), and most notably, the accapella versions of "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye" (both the original version and radio version) are songs that will easily be favored. Likewise, their remake of the 1950s Five Satins hit (in accapella), "In The Still Of The Nite (I'll Remember)"

As for the remaining tunes, they sound like the commonday 1990s R&B, and easily compared to that of Bell Biv Devoe: "Uhh Ahh" (both the sequel Version and original version), "MotownPhilly" (both the remix radio edit and original version), "Under Pressure," "Sympin" (both the remix radio edit and original version), and "Little Things."

CooleyHighHarmony is a very well done album. The ballads and accapella tunes are the standouts. "End Of The Road" would be a huge hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a total of 13 weeks. Their later albums would also have hits that reached #1, "I'll Make Love To You" and "On Bended Knee" from II, and "4 Seasons Of Loneliness" from Evolution. Another future huge hit was a duet with Mariah Carey, "One Sweet Day."

Boyz II Men released a few albums after Evolution, but did not succeed in popularity as their previous albums. Depsite personal problems and health issues, they stopped recording in 2002. They returned in 2009 with a cover album, and in 2011, they released a 20th anniversary album. Both albums consisted of new material. They also helped out on Justin Bieber's Never Say Never movie and Justin's Christmas album, Under The Mistletoe.
