    "Life's So Funny"

My first introduction to Country artist Joe Diffie's music was this week's (original) album, Life's So Funny, released in 1995. It featured a radio hit, "Bigger Than The Beatles." Of course, being a Beatles fan, I was interested. Referencing the Fab Four, and even other Rock bands (to an extent): Chorus: "They got a love, bigger than the Beatles . Wild and free like a Rolling Stone / They gotta love takes 'em higher than the Eagles (They even reference/sing the Beatles' "She Loves You" towards the end of the song, the infamous "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.") This Diffie song reached #1 on the Billboard Country Songs chart, as he would be no stranger to the top spot on the chart throughout his career. This song is a Country classic, just as most of his #1 Country songs.

The album continues with "Never Mine To Lose," a very pretty ballad, and very well done. "Down In A Ditch" is pretty good, and upbeat Country. "Tears In The Rain" is medium tempo'd Country, and overall, another good Country tune. "C-O-U-N-T-R-Y" has a Brooks & Dunn feel. (True to be another very likable Diffie hit). "She Loves Me" is another nice Country ballad. "Back To The Cave" is a another good common day Country sounding tune. "I'm Willing To Try" is a ballad. "Whole Lotta Gone" and the title track are other good common day Country tunes.

Joe Diffie's Life's So Funny is a very good and excellent release. There are some good foot-tapping Country tunes, easily to be used at Country line dances. The ballads are just as superb. Joe Diffie is another good, if not great and enjoyable artist to listen to. There were only 5 songs of his to reach #1, yet I'm sure there should be more. Life's So Funny is an entertaining album, and an album that all Country fans will truly enjoy.
