April Wine "The Nature Of The Beast"
As mentioned in previous April Wine reviews
here,
here, and
here -- their music is basically hard rock and could classify as
Classic Rock as well. But their biggest hit was a ballad, and its from their original album from 1981, The Nature Of The Beast. That big
monster ballad was "JUst Between You And Me." Yet this song would become their biggest hit, they weren't the only ones who would have hard rocking
styled songs, yet they would be more recognized with their ballads: Bryan Adams, Meatloaf, Kiss to name a few. And in all for this album, "Just
Between You And Me" is really the only ballad, where all the reamining tracks are in the hard rock genre.
And those hard rocking tracks are good ones. The one that stood out was "Tellin' Me Lies." No doubt on the others, they are all great rockers
for each and every hard rock - Classic Rock music fans. As the title states, "Wanna Rock", yes, it does inded rock, and "Future Tense" is
tense, and another fine rocking tune.
The Nature Of The Beast defines the "Beast" in great (hard) rock music. For those who may not have heard of April Wine in the United States,
is that this band is from Canada, and most popular there.
"Just Between You And Me" is indeed a great Rock ballad, and I can't help to hear as it's playing, another "Rocker who is more familiar having
a ballad" -- is Meatloaf's "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad." You will love the April Wine ballad here, yet the other rocking tunes are worth listening
to, and you'll want to hear more of their hard rocking style.
