    "The Dreamer"

Blake Shelton debuts this week on the WSVNRadio website, with his second album of his career - The Dreamer, released in 2003. "The Baby" would be the #1 hit from this album; it would be his second #1 of his career. "Austin" was his first, from his self-titled album, in 2001.

"Heavy Liftin'" was one of three singles from the album, as it combines both Rock and Country. A great song to start out the album. The #1 "The Baby" is a bit mellow, yet it is another great Country song. "Asphalt Cowboy" has Rock and Country, yet it's more on the Country side. Likewise, Country it is, for both "In My Heaven" and the title track - "The Dreamer."

Rock and Country gets "My Neck Of The Woods," yet it IS another great Country sounding tune. "Underneath The Same Moon" is a beautiful sounding song - nice, pleasant; it's a great "ballad-type' tune for Blake. It also has a Brooks & Dunn feel. "Georgia In A Jug" is a song that was recorded by Johnny Paycheck. It was from his "Take This Job And Shove It" album - a truly great Country album to hear, if you haven't learned of it. In comparing the two, I would have to say Paycheck's version gets the better of the two. "Playboys Of The Southwestern World" gives reference to Van Morrison's "Brown-Eyed Girl." Ending the album is "Someday," another plesant-sounding/mellow Country song.

Blake Shelton was just getting popular with his second album, and of course, he would become even more famous, appearing as a judge on The Voice. Likewise his marriage and divorce to Miranda Lambert, of which he left Miranda for Gwen Stefani. He was a judge for The Voice for 11 years (2011-2022).

The Dreamer defines Blake Shelton as the "new artist on the rise" back when it was released. He has surely accomplished more and more popularity in his future, having more #1 Country hits, and Country albums. And, The Dreamer definitely is a Country album, from start to finish. Listen to good Country on Blake Shelton's The Dreamer. It is, a good Country album.
