From the Goodwill Collection... Tripping Daisy is a neo-psychedelic pop rock band from Dallas, Texas. I Am An Elastic Firecracker was their second album released in 1995, and their first on a major label, Island Records. The album's cover features a photo of Italian artist Guglielmo Achille Cavellini (1914-1990). The photo originated as a piece of stamp art by E.F. Higgins.

"ROCKetPop" kicks off the album, as a loud, Alternative Rock song. However, it slows down the pace, and quite honestly, it does work, as the loud Alternative Rock sound returns. It's a song that easily fits the sound of Mainstream Rock songs. "baNg" is next, and it is definitely a "Rock" track, that also would fit Mainstream Rock. It kicks in full Alternative Rock force towards it's end, and, it's another impressive Alterative Rock track. "I Got a Girl" would be the band's biggest hit, as it received airplay on MTV. It's another good song, easily fitting the previous tracks. It has a comparison to Nirvana. The Alternative Rock sound continues, on "PirANhA." "mOtivATion" is another good Alternative Rock track, as this one gets a comparison to Soundgarden. "SAme DREss neW dAy" is Alternative, and unique. And, another impressive track.

"Trip Along" is another good track (as each song from this album this far keeps getting more impressive.) "RAINdrOP" is a very good rocking track, comparing to the Foo Fighters. "STep bEhind" is another unique sounding song. Maybe it's not as impressive as other tracks, however, it matches the album, with it's Alternate style. But wait, it has it's good moments though. Impressive? It just could be. Towards its end, it kicks into full gear, Nirvana'ish. "NOOSE" slows down the pace, and in a good way. Does it kick into the loud, Alternative Rock style? Yes, it does for a bit, then returns back, to the slow down. And, it's an instrumental. A very good track, all in all. "PriCK" is another loud, Alternative Rock track, and another good one, being 9 minutes + in length. "High" ends the album, with it's slow down style, a good way to end the album, being another good instrumental.

Tripping Daisy's I Am An Elastic Firecracker has an unusual album title, and it has an unusual album cover. But don't let that fool you... This is a very good Alternative Rock album. Comparing to those of Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Foo Fighters does give this album a curious result. The curiousity results in an album that will impress the Alternative Rock fans to enjoy this album.

They would release their third album in 1998, but tragedy would strike, as one of the bandmembers, Wes Berggen, died from a drug overdose in 1999. Their final (self-titled) album was released in 2000. A reunion of the remaining members occurred nearly twenty years later, in 2017. Tour dates would emerge, and a live album. Another live event in 2019 followed, as well as other performances. In 2024, Tripping Daisy announced they had reformed, and plans were in the works for a new album. I Am An Elastic Firecracker is a very impressive Alternative Rock album, and for the fans of this musical style, give this album a listen. You will not be disappointed.
