Pat Benatar returns this week, with the Live/Studio release, Live From Earth (1983). 8 Live tracks, and 2 Studio - this album was favored by the
studio hit, "Love Is A Battlefield." The 8 tracks were from her Get Nervous World Tour, from late 1982 and early 1983. Also to mention, regarding
"Love Is A Battlefield" - it had returned to #1 on November 5, 1983, on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart, This song was #1 on this chart for 4
non-consecutive weeks.
By 1983, Benatar had become a huge star. Her videos were on MTV, and heavy airplay throughout many radio stations. Her hits are here live - "Fire ANd Ice"
Hell Is For Children," Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Promises In The Dark," "Heartbreaker." The others - "Lookin' For A Stranger," "I Want Out," "We Live
For Love," were original album tracks from her released albums: 2 from her recent album Get Nervous and In The Heat Of The Night.
"Fire And Ice" is a great concert starter. The next three songs "Lookin' For A Stranger," "I Want Out" and "We Live For Love" are the
not-so-familiar tunes, however, the first two were from her recent album Get Nervous, and on most tours bands and artists focus on the most recent album's
songs. 4 singles were from Get Nervous, as "Looking For A Stranger" was the one part of the Live From Earth album.
But for the true Pat Benatar fans, the fun starts with "Hell Is For Children" and the next 3 songs. These are the songs that ever fan will always
remember: "Hell Is For Children," "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Promises In The Dark," "Heartbreaker."
"Love Is A Battlefield" and "Lipstick Lies" (studio tracks) ends out the album. The original studio tracks are better than the live versions
(which is mostly the case). I'm sure the concert itself was entertaining. Being that the recent album Get Nervous was current, maybe the last two studio
tracks could have been included on the studio album Get Nervous. This probably would have made the Get Nervous album itself more memorable.
Therefore, maybe adding two more live tracks, making Live From Earth a true Live album. Live From Earth was obviously included for the Pat Benatar
fans for the hit "Love Is A Battlefield," which was a huge hit, likewise, it's video was also very popular.
The live tracks are good, yet "Love Is A Battlefield" is the standout. "Lipstick Lies" is a good rocker also, yet it wasn't as popular as the
other well-known tracks that made Pat Benatar famous. As mentioned, this live album was for the studio "Love Is A Battlefield." Two other live tracks
would have made it a true live album. The live tracks are good, as it results in a good assortment of concert tracks. As it should -- Pat Benatar, along with her
husband, Neil Giraldo, were inducted recently in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (2022).
