R.E.M. returns this week, with their 1991 release, Out Of Time. It featured two very popular songs from it - "Losing My Religion" and "Shiny Happy People" (featuring the B-52's Kate Pierson as guest vocalist). Out Of Time spent two weeks on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums chart. Surprisingly, R.E.M. never achieved a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 (singles) chart. R.E.M. has had many, many hits from their albums prior to Out Of Time and after. R.E.M. has always been popular in the music scene, and Out Of Time was one of those albums in the band's prime.

"Radio Song" kicks off the album, and it's a good rockin' tune, R.E.M.'s own way. It's also kind of punkish. And there's the next track, the classic "Losing My Religion." A great tune, it never gets old, and a great R.E.M. song to hear decades later to today. "Low" is a bit moody; it has it's own atmosphere, and yet it is quite a good track. "Near Wild Heaven" is much better, having the happy-go-lucky sound that R.E.M. has had, like in "Shiny Happy People" and "Losing My Religion." Good song. "Endgame" also has it's own R.E.M. atmosphere; it's another good track. It even sounds a bit Classical, making this song even more enjoyable.

"Shiny Happy People" is another great R.E.M. song, as it received much radio airplay. The B-52's Kate Pierson provides her vocals to the song. "Belong" has it's own groove, making it yet another good R.E.M. tune. "Half A World" is another good song, with its folkish sound. "Texakarna" is a great tune as well; R.E.M. rockin' it out. "Country Feedback" has a Dylan "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" feel. And yes, it is another good R.E.M. tune. Ending the album is "Me In Honey" - another good R.E.M. rocking tune.

R.E.M.'s Out Of Time was considered one of their best albums, and it is. R.E.M. has always achieved good albums, and the standout tracks (and best rememembered from it), are "Losing My Religion" (the most favorite) and "Shiny Happy People." Every song is GOOD. Michael Stipe and Company achieved great tunes on this album, and proves to be one of their finest albums recorded.
