The famous Christian artist Amy Grant marks her debut on WSVNRadio.net, with her most recent Christmas album release, Tennessee Christmas (2016). THe title track was previously recorded on her A Christmas Album, in 1983. 33 years later, she is still singing this song, as it becomes the title track in 2016. Her entire album of Christmas songs are in fact, fantastic. Another great mention is that some of the songs are Christmas standards, where the others were originals.

Such as the title track -- it was co-written by Grant and Gary Chapman. It's an excellent track, and could even pass for updated Country, rather than Christian music. Grant co-wrote the nice track "To Be Together" with Chris Eaton. "Melancholy Christmas" was co-written by Grant and Marshall Altman. And, like the title track, can also pass as a nice Country sounding tune. And the last co-written song by Grant, this time with Ed Cash, is "Another Merry Christmas."

The other original Christmas tunes were penned by other authors: The nice and upbeat "Christmas For You And Me" was co-written by Ellie Holcomb and Nathan Dugger. Another nice tune, "December" was penned by Isaac Darnall. And the upbeat "Still Can't Sleep" by Ed Cash and Franni Cash.

Then there's the standards: "White Christmas" (Irving Berlin), "Joy To The World" (Isacc Watts), "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (duet with Grant's husband, Vince Gill), (written by Frank Loesser). Grant does her own take on The Chipmunks' "Christmas Don't Be Late" (which we're more familiar with the song title as "The Chipmunks Song." John Francis Wade's "O Come All Ye Faithful" is here, and speaking of Irving Berlin, his "I"ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" is also covered.

In one word to describe Amy Grant's Tennessee Christmas albm -- GREAT! She hadn't recorded a Christmas album in nearly 20 years. Grant shared her insight into her vision behind this album/project: "I've loved traveling the world with my guitar, but, my favorite musical memories have happened right here at home around Christmastime with family and friends. I hope we've captured some of that magic to share with all of that magic to share with all of you this holiday season!" In the booklet for this album, there are wonderful Christmas pictures from her home.

Tennesse Christmas reached #1 on Billboard's Christian Album Charts. It sounds more Country than it does Christian. (Most Country artists have recorded Christian, or vice versa.) Amy Grant has been a very popular Christian artist, throughout the 1980s decade. Her output of albums have not been as many as she did in the 1980s, but she has always been respected as one of the best Christian artists in its history. And even when she hasn't recorded an album in awhile, yet when she does, she still comes up with fantastic reviews. More of her albums will be reviewed here on this site. She marks her debut this week, and there will be more to come on this site from her.
