Her real name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, but she is known by her first name only, Sia. She began her music career in 1997, yet she became more popular in 2016, when her album This Is Acting was released. Born in Australia, she started her career in the acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s. By 1997, she had left the band for a solo career. She had released a total of six albums before This Is Acting. This Is Acting was mostly composed of songs written by Sia for other pop artists that were not included on their albums. She described songwriting for others as "play-acting," hence the title of this album. 5 singles were from the album: "Alive," "Cheap Thrills," "The Greatest," "Move Your Body," "Reaper," and "Unstoppable." From those singles, "Cheap Thrills" was a #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, spending 4 weeks at #1. On The Billboard Adult Contemporary (singles) chart, "Unstoppable" reached #1, for a total of 12 weeks.

Leading the album, is "Bird Set Free," a heavy Pop song, as it does resemble that of another singer, Adele. (However, Adele is a better singer than Sia, in my opinion.) Next, is "Alive" (the first single). It's better than "Bird Set Free," and it resembles a song by Adele in a way, "Rolling In The Deep." (Of course, "Rolling In The Deep" is the better song of the two.) "One Million Bullets" is one of those songs that could grow on you; it's quite good, and has the standard Pop sound of most of the 21st Century female singers. And speaking of that, "Move Your Body" is very upbeat, and can be compared to the upbeat tempo songs by Britney Spears. It's a very good song. "Unstoppable" is another very good tune also. It's easy to hear this song to be #1, and surprisingly, "Move Your Body" could have been another #1 hit, if it was given the chance. And somehow, Ed Sheeran's music comes to mind, other the other #1 hit for Sia, "Cheap Thrills." It is another good song too.

"Reaper" was another hit single, and it has the common sound of today's Pop. And quite frankly, this song is enjoyable. Actually, sia's style on this album should be how today's Pop sound SHOULD sound like, to be enjoyed more. Likewise, this sound goes for "House On Fire." Another good song, although previous songs are a bit better. "Footprints" is another impressive Pop-styled track. "Sweet Design" has a great "WOW!" feel. It's upbeat, rockin' in it's own way. Britney'ish, Madonna'ish. Cool track. And speaking of cool, "Broken Glass" is a laid-back tune, yet it has a great Pop feel. Ending the album is "Space Between," another cool laid-back song to listen to. It has an eerieness to it, making it even more better to listen to. Another comparison to Adele, and another "WOW" factor of a song.

Sia's This Is Acting is a great Pop album. And if more female singers (and males as well) could record music like this, it would be a better for Pop music in today's world. There are great tunes here throughout, and again, as mentioned, this is the way Pop music should sound like. If you like Adele, you'll like Sia.
