    "Greatest Hits"

If there is one word to describe this Greatest Hits compilation, it would be: FUNKY. In the funk-style of Rick James, Kool & The Gang, The Gap Band, and the early years of Prince, Motown's Dazz Band proved as well as many other black groups, that there was life after disco in the 1980s. This Greatest Hits compilation features ten songs from 1980 to 1986 by The Dazz Band.

Let It Whip starts out the album, as this song was a huge dance hit in the local clubs. (That's where I discovered this song, when I was vacationing in Florida in 1982.) The rest of the album has ultimate dance-funk tunes that catches your attention real quick. The synthesizers in tunes like Joystick, Keep It Live (On The K.I.L.), and Cheek To Cheek keeps your listening ear glued to the groove. And of course, there are some slow-mellow romantic tunes like Invitation To Love and Knock! Knock! which compares to the beauty of Earth, Wind & Fire.

The Dazz Band Greatest Hits is a great dance-party album. It's funky, it's danceable; it gets the juices flowing. If you're familar with such albums as Prince's 1999, Michael Jackson's Off The Wall, or if you're just a Super Freak like Rick James, this album will get you up and boogie'ing before you know it.
